Malaysia’s First Aviary Cage-Free Egg Farm

In a landmark initiative led by Teong Choon Poultry Farm and supported by their partners Old Town White Coffee, JDE Peets, and Beaconmart, Malaysia welcomes its first aviary cage-free system for hens. The project, celebrated at the "Wings of Progress for Better Welfare" event on March 22, 2024, aims to provide hens with a more natural environment, allowing them the freedom to fulfil their instinctual behaviours.

This significant step forward in poultry farming, supported by Teong Choon Poultry Farm, will see the integration of cage-free eggs into Old Town White Coffee cafes throughout Malaysia, with Beacon Mart committing to offer exclusively cage-free eggs by 2030.

Big Dutchman Asia played a crucial role in supplying the necessary equipment, technical support, experienced design and execution for the project. Mr. Robert Geerts, Sales Director of Egg at Big Dutchman, was present at the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), along with the project's key partners.

To mark the collaboration, a limited-edition chicken figurine was presented as a token of appreciation. Also in attendance were key contributors to our customer's success, our Egg Regional Sales Manager, Mr. Peter Leong, Building Sales Manager, Ms. Lena Yew, Marketing Manager, Ms Katrina Chua & Digital Marketing Manager, Mr Donovan Yap.

Adding to the event's prestige, YB. Saraswathy Kandasami, Deputy Minister of National Unity in the Unity Government graced the occasion along with the Deputy Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Malaysia, Ms Eva Oskam, underscoring the international significance of this pioneering venture.
