Australia & New Zealand Aviary Seminar 2025: A Three-Day Showcase of Innovation, Insights, and International Collaboration

Location: Big Dutchman Asia HQ, Klang, Malaysia
Date: 4-6 June, 2025

Big Dutchman Asia recently had the privilege of welcoming a dynamic group of customers from Australia and New Zealand for our 2025 Aviary Seminar. Over the course of three engaging days, we transformed our headquarters in Klang, Malaysia into a hub of collaboration, technical immersion, and shared vision for the future of cage-free layer farming.

Day 1: A Warm Welcome and Global Perspective

For many of our guests, it was their first time visiting our Asia HQ, and the experience began with a guided walkthrough of our office building and warehouse. With our team on hand, attendees were given a close-up look at the logistics and infrastructure that form the backbone of our operations.

Day 1: A Warm Welcome and Global Perspective

The official welcome came from Mr. Jan Hofstede, Head of Region Asia, who introduced the group to the broader mission of Big Dutchman in the region. This was followed by a special session with Mr. Bernd Meerpohl, Chairman of the Board, and Dr. Steffen Bersch, CEO of Big Dutchman International. Their message was clear: Australia and New Zealand are vital parts of our global roadmap, and our commitment to supporting these markets is stronger than ever.

Day 1: A Warm Welcome and Global Perspective

Throughout the day, our technical experts presented a range of topics that included aviary rearing and laying systems, on-farm feed milling, and the MultiVacc system. These deep dives into product innovation sparked engaged discussions, with participants asking thoughtful questions and sharing their own field experiences.

The day concluded with an evening of relaxed networking and camaraderie, laying the foundation for stronger partnerships to come.

Day 2: Deep Dives and Dialogues

The second day built upon the momentum with a more focused agenda. Kicking things off, Mr. Robert Geerts, Sales Director of BU Egg Asia, welcomed the group and set the stage for a rich line-up of sessions.

Day 2: Deep Dives and Dialogues

Industry insights were delivered by Mr. Philip Szepe, whose thoughtful perspectives on market shifts resonated deeply with the audience. His contributions were later recognized with a Certificate of Appreciation from the Big Dutchman team.

The agenda continued with technical presentations covering the Natura Life system, summer and winter ventilation strategies, 4D egg cam technology, climate automation tools, and the latest on our BFN Fusion digital platform. More than just product showcases, these were interactive exchanges where curiosity led to knowledge, and collaboration sparked innovation.

Day 2: Deep Dives and Dialogues

In every corner of the seminar room, notebooks were open and laptops abuzz. Breakout sessions and side conversations revealed the depth of expertise and the collective desire to push boundaries in layer management.

Day 3: Reflections and Farewells

As the final day began, five flags fluttered outside our HQ—New Zealand, Australia, Germany, Big Dutchman, and Malaysia—a visual reminder of the global spirit that brought us together.

Day 3: Reflections and Farewells

Day 3 was quieter but equally impactful. The morning was dedicated to focused consultations, follow-up technical discussions, and peer-to-peer learning. From exploring climate systems to sketching ideas for new barn configurations, the conversations were grounded, practical, and promising.

As the group shared one last lunch, laughter and ideas mingled freely. Friendships were strengthened, and new strategies were born. The buses rolled in, and one by one, our guests departed—not just with greater knowledge, but with a renewed sense of purpose and partnership.
